Daravy DeRouen joined Perficient through our Lafayette, Louisiana Bright Paths Program. She hit the ground running since joining the Automation team. As a member of our two Employee Resource Groups, Women in Technology and the Perficient Giving ERG, Daravy is actively involved in the community.
Why did you decide to apply for Bright Paths? Was there a reason you wanted to join the industry?
I saw an advertisement for the Bright Paths Program while recovering from COVID-19. I promised myself if I made it through that, I would start a new chapter in my life and do something that truly inspires me and makes me happy every day. When I saw the ad, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to start that next chapter.

What is your role here at Perficient? Describe a day in the life of Daravy.
I’m an associate technical consultant, and I work on the Automation team. Within the Automation BU, I am helping to create a demo. I’ve been fortunate to have worked on government and healthcare industry projects since I have started with Perficient. Additionally, Perficient has allowed me to get my Scrum Foundations and Scrum Master certifications. I am also currently working on becoming a certified Appian developer.
What motivates you in your daily work?
Accomplishing daily tasks on the Jira board or completing milestones in my Appian training motivates me. I believe setting an attainable daily, weekly, and monthly goal provides a great feeling of success to look forward to once the goal is achieved.
Why are you #ProudlyPerficient?
I love my job and that there’s an endless amount of learning available at my fingertips. For a beginner like myself, I love that there’s a solid support system. Seeing the number of women in technology at Perficient is truly inspiring and encourages me to grow as an individual and a professional, so this is an opportunity for which I am extremely grateful.

What are you passionate about outside of work?
I am passionate about being the best mother I can be and raising my kids to believe in equality. I also enjoy taking pictures and even took headshots of my fellow cohort classmates for them to update their LinkedIn profile pictures. My mother taught me how to cook when I was extremely young, so I also love cooking.
